Eve-Teasing By Adams: The Stigma And Mockery Of Civilization

I really wonder at times that how people can be so insensitive towards umpteen ugly incidents taking place all over around us. How can we just turn our eyes aside and just wish inside that someday everything will be fine or expect that somebody else like government or NGO's or some private organization established for the purpose would take the responsibility to bring all these improprieties to an end and will come to the rescue. Or we just consider ourselves lucky that we are not the victim and move on until the day when same thing happens to us and that day we are dead furious over things happened to us and around us. Is everyone of us is waiting for that day to come? Yes or No? But the fact remains the same irrespective of your reply-YES!!!
The ball is in our court now.
One such outrageous incident is EVE-TEASING. Yes the unanimous incident that happens at every other second somewhere. For many of us (males), it's just bantering, mode of little entertainment or even fun. Just a timepass! A recreational activity! Some girl is just passing by and as common as 70% times you will hear the remark that might range between unbecoming appreciation to sexually abusive from the group of guys standing nearby corner tea-shop, bus-stand, outside theatre and many such public places. But, sadly, these remarks most of the time are sexually abusive than a harmless appreciation. We just become the mute witness of such indecencies and accept it thinking that its common or sometimes that don't even bother to see it or sometimes just feel easy that the girl was not my girlfriend, daughter, wife, sister or a friend .What a spectacular display of our narrow outlook towards humanity, equality and freedom of fairer (but sadly weaker) sex!!! Why people tend to forget that tomorrow there could be their girlfriend, daughter, wife, sister or a friend. Will they be the same mute witness to the usurious incident? I guess not.
Have you ever heard the perspective of these creatures who are the part of the crowd and are the frontrunners in passing the remarks? I believe everyone had. Lets hear'em up anyways:
>"It’s fun and good time pass, buddy!" (Oh Really!!)
>"After all, for whom they dress up and try to look beautiful so there should be someone to complement them!"(wow!)
>"What can I do? They dress up like this. They put on revealing clothes. They provoke us! They invite us. It’s their fault altogether."(unbelievable!!)
And similar agonizingly wonderful perspectives galore!
If it’s the time pass then why the hunting is banned. That is also a good recreation of similar type with only exception that at the receiving end are our friend, wife, sister or girlfriend. They are being hunted like animals. But its worst of its kind. The animals are not our beloved and closed ones but these our gender counterparts are our closed ones. Then why it’s so common scene on the roads and nukkads?
Who does not want to look good? Who does not want to be adored and appreciated for their looks and dress sense? Take a mirror and ask yourself, don’t you? If so then what's wrong if they dress up and try to look good. Oh did you just said they wear revealing clothes? Did i hear you correct Mr. ? Do you know that just now you have shattered the every possible argument of civilization, freedom and equality, above all, the humanity. All right, answer me. Do you feel the same when you see a little girl scantily dressed up? Do you ogle at her? I guess the reply is NO (perhaps some of them secretly say yes. For them I must say that they are no more fit to be the part of society and have become danger for the harmony and welfare of the civilized society. They should be treated as cannibals and ought to be dealt similarly as soon as possible.) Thus, for the part which said no, I believe they belong to the category that can be talked to and reasoned out. If you don’t ogle at a little scantily dressed girl then why ogle a scantily dressed girl. Don’t you think that there is something wrong with yourself instead of their dressing sense? Definitely, there is wrong with the mentality and attitude. It’s not their dress sense but it’s our crude and disgruntled attitude. This ought to be dealt with. How can we just put a question mark over someone's preference of clothing (until it goes beyond the acceptable level of propriety and decency).Or you can just because they are weaker sex and almost helpless in this male dominated society. Is that the freedom of living? Is that the idea of equality and freedom? We keep roaming here and there scantily dressed with like shorts and sleeveless but the girls can’t. They are considered as objects .That's really a miserably shameful outlook. They deserve the same respect and appreciation. They need the freedom from the fear of being harassed. Freedom-That’s their right. That’s every human being's right. But sadly ,our sexual counterparts are still deprived from their fundamental right.
In general, when the revealing clothes are mentioned, it is actually the synonym of western clothing. We males if wear westerns then it’s cool and if they wear; they are being indecently dressed up. They are being provocative. The indecency is not in their dressing code but indecent is our narrow attitude and conservative mentality. We are ready to accept and actually enjoying the western technology, arts, music, automobiles, games like cricket but when it comes to clothing particularly feminine then suddenly we start talking about prehistoric cultural way of dress code for girls. That's not done. That’s hypocrisy! Even if we talk about culture then culture is something that symbolizes current standard of living not the past. The culture is for harmonic social existence not for harassment. The change is imminent in culture as change is the only permanent thing in the universe. Therefore, our so called self-proclaimed moral police like “Ramsena”, “Shivsena”, “Bajrang Dal “ if stop excavating the long dead and buried and almost no modern significance past cultural values and instead try to fight the basic evils like eve-teasing which are really a stigma for civilized society, I guess they can actually contribute to the welfare of society and eventually culture that profess equality and harmonious co-existence for the every element of our society. Perhaps then they can get more votes even if they are after vote bank policy (everyone knows that).
It’s high time for every one of us to be consciously conscious to take a united step to curb this evil from our society if at all we want to give our beloved feminines a fair and fearless freedom to be the equal part of our society. This the era of equality and freedom for everyone. It’s time to get rid of all these evils. It’s the voice of time. It’s time to make a society which stands upon the equality, freedom and human values. Let them move freely even if it is dark and lonely road. Let them work any time in 24 hours without fear. Eventually, they can contribute better towards the advancement of the society, nation and, foremost, civilization.
